Press Release: Canadian Tech Companies Ammolite Security and Myntex Showcase Secure Mobile Communications at NATO Event

Highlighting Canadian Technology for Sovereign and Secure Communications for Allied Defenses

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Calgary, AB – September 17, 2025 – Ammolite Security, in partnership with Myntex, is honored to represent Canada in the NATO Innovation Continuum, a strategic initiative led by NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) to accelerate the adoption of emerging and disruptive technologies across the Alliance. By bringing together academia, industry, and national partners, the initiative aims to strengthen collective defense capabilities and ensure readiness in an evolving threat landscape.

Ammolite Security and Myntex were selected for their innovative secure communications platform, purpose-built to protect against weaponized malware and commercial spyware deployed by nation-states and private vendors. The solution integrates a hardened mobile operating system, encrypted messaging, embedded device management, and portable infrastructure to deliver sovereign, zero-trust communications in high-risk environments, without reliance on third-party cloud or hosting providers.

Collaborative Experiment at GLOW

During the recent GLOW event in Portugal, Ammolite Security and Myntex joined forces with Sma-rty, the UK Ministry of Defence, and MicroAmp to design a joint experiment as part of the 5G Testbed Portability Experiment. This collaboration aligns with NATO’s goal of developing a NATO-owned 5G prototype, creating a next-generation communications backbone to support emerging disruptive technologies (EDTs).

The experiment demonstrates backhaul network resiliency by leveraging both FR1 (sub-6 GHz) and FR2 (mmWave) frequency bands. This dual-band approach enables rapid reestablishment of communications when FR1 is under active jamming. At the tactical edge, a customer premises equipment (CPE) unit provides either a standard Wi-Fi access point or a tactical 5G bubble, supporting mobile devices, edge computing, live drone videofeeds, and quantum resilient secure communications. In FR2 operation, the backhaul extends to mmWave bodycams in forward operating positions, ensuring resilient, high-bandwidth data transfer to sustain both current and future edge technologies.

"Nation-states often collect and store encrypted data to decrypt later, posing a serious threat. By showcasing our post-quantum secure communications,
we’re helping allied forces safeguard sensitive information today and ensure it remains protected well into the future,“ Said Geoff Green, CEO of Myntex.

Ammolite Security & Myntex’s Contribution

For this effort, Ammolite Security and Myntex are delivering post-quantum secure communications through their custom hardened Android operating system and encrypted messaging platform.

Key features include:

  • Encrypted calling, messaging, group chats, and multimedia sharing

  • Out-of-band portable communications unit for device provisioning and management

  • Operation independent of cloud infrastructure, with optional seamless integration when required

  • Sovereign, zero-trust architecture designed to counter both conventional and quantum-enabled threats

Together, these capabilities provide resilient, sovereign communications for government, defense, and allied forces, ensuring continuity even in contested environments.

Looking Ahead

Over the next four weeks, the joint team will refine and finalize the experiment in preparation for the SHINE event in Turkey, where the group experiment will be presented as part of the NATO Innovation Continuum. Ammolite Security and Myntex are proud to represent Canada on this global stage.

"Representing Canada in the NATO Innovation Continuum is both an honor and a responsibility. Our collaboration with Myntex highlights the strength of Canadian innovation in addressing some of the world’s most pressing cybersecurity challenges." said Cara Wolf, CEO of Ammolite Security.
