Ammolite Security and Myntex Demonstrate Tactical 5G Innovation at NATO SHINE 2025
Calgary, AB – November 27th, 2025– Ammolite Security, in collaboration with Myntex Inc., proudly represented Canada at SHINE 2025, NATO’s flagship innovation event held in Istanbul, Türkiye. The two companies showcased a powerful new communications solution: a portable, quantum-resilient 5G network designed to provide secure, high-speed connectivity for military and allied forces in high-threat environments.
SHINE is the final stage in NATO’s Innovation Continuum, a year-long program that advances emerging technologies from early-stage concept to real-world application. Hosted at Istanbul Technical University’s Maritime Faculty, SHINE 2025 brought together NATO leaders, private sector experts, and academic researchers to demonstrate how new technologies can directly support NATO’s mission.
“Our collaboration with Myntex highlights the strength of Canadian innovation in addressing some of the world’s most pressing cybersecurity challenges,” said Cara Wolf, CEO of Ammolite Security. “By working alongside partners like Microamp, ULAK, and NATO’s Allied Command Transformation, we’re proving how sovereign, secure technologies can deliver resilient communications in contested environments. This project reflects the power of international collaboration and showcases Canada’s leadership in building next-generation, quantum-resilient infrastructure for defense and critical infrastructure.”
Meeting NATO’s Operational Needs
At the heart of the demonstration was the 5G Testbed Portability Experiment, a tactical communications system featured by Ammolite Security and Myntex. The solution is designed to operate independently of commercial cloud infrastructure, delivering high-bandwidth, secure communications in areas where standard connectivity may be compromised.
This portable network uses both Frequency Range 1 (sub-6 GHz) and Frequency Range 2 (mmWave) spectrum, allowing it to switch automatically between frequency bands when one is jammed or degraded. This ensures continuous connectivity even in complex or hostile environments.
Core capabilities include:
Encrypted mobile messaging
Live drone video transmission
Secure body-worn cameras
Real-time edge computing for decision support
The system enables tactical teams to maintain mission-critical communication, data sharing, and situational awareness, all while protecting against interference and surveillance.
From Concept To Combat Readiness
During the SHINE event, Ammolite and Myntex conducted live demonstrations showing how this portable 5G infrastructure can be rapidly deployed and adapted to meet mission demands in real time.
Key outcomes from the demonstration included:
Resilient communication in areas affected by signal jamming
Compatibility with NATO’s broader experimentation platforms
Operational performance in multi-domain environments
This technology directly supports NATO’s goal of integrating emerging technologies that strengthen deterrence and defense in today’s evolving threat landscape.
What’s Next
Ammolite Security and Myntex are now focused on scaling and refining the technology for broader defense applications. The next phase of development includes:
Finalizing seamless FR1/FR2 frequency switching
Deploying enhanced edge computing nodes
Expanding use of tactical “5G bubbles” for field deployment
Conducting additional operational testing in live environments
The long-term objective is to deliver a modular, scalable communications backbone that can be deployed by NATO and allied forces to support a wide range of defense, emergency response, and infrastructure protection needs.
About NATO’s Innovation Continuum
NATO’s Innovation Continuum is a structured framework designed to move technologies from ideation to implementation. In 2025, the program included four key stages: SPARK, IGNITE, GLOW, and SHINE.
At SHINE, tested solutions are presented in real-world environments to validate their effectiveness and prepare them for operational use. This year’s demonstrations included:
Quantum-safe communication systems
AI-enabled counter-drone and counter-glide bomb technologies
Autonomous systems for mine detection and infrastructure protection
Multi-domain operational tools with built-in cyber resilience
These experiments are helping NATO and its partners stay ahead of rapidly evolving threats.
